Erik Koconis is a veteran Milwaukee stand-up who not only practices comedy, he exchanges it.
Catch Erik along with Christy Hall Watson, Ryan Lowe and others at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 26. It’s a variety show fundraiser for WriteCamp. They’ll be at the Stonefly Brewery, 735 E. Center St., in Milwaukee’s radical Riverwest neighborhood. Admission is $8, or $5 if you wear something writing-related – like, I don’t know, a postal carrier’s pouch or a quill in your cap.
Then, on Sunday, April 29, join Erik as he hosts the Comedy Conclave. As reported here, the Comedy Conclave is a monthly symposium on comedy for comedians, conceived and mediated by Erik. It’s held at 6 p.m. on the last Sunday of each month, just before the Kick Me Comedy open mic at Rounding Third, on 63rd and Bluemound. That’s free.
Even more, learn from Erik, as begins a five-week workshop on the art of joke writing and how to stand up to a comedy audience. The classes are from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday in May at Be Spectacled optometry, 7605 Harwood Ave., Wauwatosa. It’s $5 a class, and participation is mandatory. Reach Erik via email to register for the class.
