Comedy in Motion

The thing about dancing and being funny is that most of us think we can do it, but the prospect of performing in front of an audience of strangers scares the bejesus out of us. (And, to the degree that alcohol loosens our inhibitions, it doesn’t make us better dancers or comedians.)

Beginning Friday, Sept. 28, and running through Saturday, Oct. 13, folks who know dancing or being funny – but not necessarily both – will be presenting 13 performances of a collaboration they’re calling What’s So Funny?

It’s a creation by Milwaukee’s Danceworks Performance Company and the comedy group The Show.

From the Web: “Being funny isn’t easy. DPC teams up with The Show – a Milwaukee based collective of comedic actors including Karen Estrada, Matthew Huebsch, Doug Jarecki, Andrea Moser and Jason Powell – for some serious fun. Dancers will dance and act. Actors will act and dance. We’ll all sing a bit. We’re taking the job seriously – and we are determined to find answers in What’s So Funny?

The shows are at Danceworks, 1661 N. Water St. For times and tickets (ranging from $16 to $28), please click here
