If you ever wanted to have a drink with people who make you laugh, to pick their brains and find out what they think is funny and how and why they choose the material they deliver, then block off the last Sunday of the month.
That’s when Erik Koconis orchestrates the Comedy Conclave. The veteran Milwaukee comedian gathers fellow side splitters from near and far and engages in animated discussions of their common craft.
The monthly conclaves are free and open to the public. They start at 6 p.m. at Rounding Third Bar & Grill, 6317 W. Bluemound Road. They’re a prelude to Rounding Third’s regular Sunday open mic sessions.
Think about it: Funny people at a bar talking about their trade and then standing up and practicing it – for free!
The next Comedy Conclave is Sunday, Jan. 27. The topic: “The Spirit of comedy. Why and how does humor connect us.”
The Comedy Conclave website also has podcasts of past conversations and a glossary of comedy terms.
