Let's Be Frank, By George!

Milwaukee has quickly become the go-to place for big name performers and comedy acts the last few years. But it’s not too often that one of these top notch names comes to town for a big show AND offers a FREE hands-on workshop at The UC as well. Comedy legend Frank Ferrante will present an hour long interactive workshop, Creating a One-Person Show for free Thursday, April 25th at 6pm in The Underground Collaborative.

From the web…

Frank Ferrante shares his experience developing his two solo shows “An Evening With Groucho” and “By George” – based on the life of legendary director/playwright George S. Kaufman (“The Man Who Came to Dinner,” “You Can’t Take It With You,” etc.) Mr. Ferrante offers approaches and tools to theater students interested in pursuing acting careers emphasizing the importance of research, observation and character development.

Participate or party

Tuesday, April 16, is your last chance until the fall to catch the Comedy at the Coin open mic, at the Roman Coin, 1004 E. Brady St. The public forum for stand-up comics starts at 8 p.m. and is going on hiatus until the tavern softball season runs its course.
And whether you’re a practicing comedian or a fan, Milwaukee has other opportunities for you this week. In fact, on Wednesday, April 17, you can watch or do improvised comedy and then watch or do standup.
The Milwaukee Comedy Open Improv starts at 7 p.m. at the Underground Collaborative, lower level, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave. It costs $3 to participate and it’s free just to watch.
At 8 p.m., Open Mic Under the Stairs kicks off at the Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave. That’s free, too, and it’s coordinated by the omnipresent Caste of Killers Comedy Collective.
