One of the more popular open mic venues in Milwaukee is the Art Bar, 722 E. Burleigh Ave., in the Riverwest neighborhood.
That’s where standup comedy performers – both new and veteran – gather on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month to practice their craft before a free audience.
So, this Thursday, Jan. 23, is one of those Thursdays. Get in on the event by being there at 8 p.m. if you want to perform and 8:30 if you just want to laugh. If you go, pay your respects to Josh Balew, the host of the show.
Just as every Monday night there’s a free comedy open mic in the Milwaukee Riverwest neighborhood at Bremen Cafe, every Tuesday night, the Down and Over Pub, in Milwaukee’s Bay View area, has a free comedy open mic.
From Facebook: “Come out for Bay View’s only comedy open-mic! Every Tuesday Milwaukee’s best and bravest comics gather at the Down and Over Pub to try out their new material and polish the old. Joke tellers of all experience levels are welcome and will receive a free drink ticket upon signing up. Don’t miss your chance to say, ‘I laughed at that joke before it was cool.’”
Whatever your role in generating laughs, show up at 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. by 9 p.m. Say hi to Christopher Schmidt, who’s hosting the event.
