Milwaukee Comedy has announced a series of $10 workshops aimed at introducing improv wannabes to long-form improvisational comedy.
The first classes are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. for the second Monday of February, March and April and will be held at Milwaukee's Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level. (Think Grand Avenue shopping mall, downstairs from T.J. Maxx.)
The Intro to Long-Form Improv schedule includes:
- Monday, Feb. 10, Improv Character Building
- Monday, March 10, The Harold
- Monday, April 14, Long-Form Variations
The long-form improv instructor is Amanda Eaton. You may have seen her in the weekly Bye Bye Liver, The Drinking Play; or the monthly The Improvised Musical (T.I.M.); or the Sketch Marks comedy sketch troupe. Amanda is education manager at Skylight Music Theatre in Milwaukee and a graduate of the Improv and Music Improv conservatory at Second City Training Center. She also has performed as a member of impov and sketch troupes in Chicago and Rochester, N.Y. So, yeah, she's been around the long-form block.
