Spring awakening

The previous performance of the Sketch Marks comedy troupe was the last day before winter. Now the next show of Sketch Marks is the second day of spring. Talk about fair-weather performers!

The Sketch Marks are just part of the next Comedy Arcade Show, the monthly variety show that features standup, improv and sketch talent. The first spring show is 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Milwaukee's Arcade Theatre, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level.

Steve Breese will be the host.

The standup headliner is Sarah Connor. Here's more about Sarah from her website:

"Sarah Connor is a Madison, Wisconsin-based comedian and Massachusetts native whose comedy illustrates what happens when you try to paint "sexy" over a primer coat of "tomboy." With material centering on the observational absurdities of single adult life, she speaks for women who are still burdened by a functioning appropriate conversation filter. She has been described by drunk audience members as “a sexy Lewis Black” and also as “Really awesome!” by musician Susan Tedeschi, the best comedy judge of all time. Her strong, sarcastic humor, delivered with a voice of playful authority, makes mothers, daughters, and dates laugh, and fathers wonder about their daughters."

"Sexy Lewis Black" – isn't that redundant?

This first spring Comedy Arcade also includes the premium improv talents of Tall Boys, namely Robby McGhee, Erik Koconis, James Boland and Lee Rowley. Lee will be performing double duty because he's part of Sketch Marks, which also includes Kristin Althoff, Joel Dresang, Amanda Eaton, Scott Heaton, Becca Segal, Amanda Stellberg and Lindsey Walcott.

Funny, that's a lot of people! It should be quite a show. Click here for tickets: $7 in advance; $10 at the door.

Milwaukee Comedy also recently opened its application process for the 9th annual Milwaukee Comedy Festival, which runs Aug. 7-10. Click here for details.
