Grand Comedy Hour for a grand time

Before it was named Wisconsin Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Milwaukee’s downtown was known as Grand Avenue. That’s why the mall downtown is known as The Shops of Grand Avenue (which translates something like, “storefronts for a commercial corridor that no longer exists”). But seriously, folks, there’s still something grand about this space, and you can partake in it on a regular basis, including at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5.

Because that’s when the Grand Comedy Hour brings you a handful of the best Milwaukee and regional comedians in an intimate showcase.

Grand Comedy Hour, 8 p.m. Dec. 5, Arcade Theatre

Part of the grandness of the Grand Comedy Hour, besides being in the Grand Avenue mall, is the talent, led by emcee Steve Breese. Other comedians scheduled for the next Grand Comedy Hour include:

* Tyler Menz
* Greg Bach
* Phil Davidson and
* Ton Johnson

Plus, the Grand Comedy Hour has special surprise guests and free giveaway stuff for the audience. All that for just $10 at the door.

The Grand Comedy Hour is in the underbelly of the Plankinton Building, which is part of the Grand Avenue mall and a historic landmark that houses T.J. Maxx, which paid no promotional fee for its mention in this blog post. The address is 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level. And there’s plenty of parking in the mall parking ramp and free street parking after 6 p.m.

The Grand Comedy Hour is brought to you by the some people who produce the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, now entering its 10th year!
