Truth be told, they’re funny

One of our favorite maxims from Homer (the Simpson, not the poet) is “It’s funny ‘cause it’s true.” (See below.)

There’s the classic manual of improvisation, “Truth in Comedy.”

There’s even university research revealing that we learn truths about ourselves in what we find funny.

So it’s altogether appropriate that the geographically diverse MadChiBrew Presents stages a monthly show in which regional comedians tell true stories about themselves.

Truths in Comedy – 8 p.m., Thursday Oct. 1

The scheduled truth-sayers include:

Liza Marie (Milwaukee – Rag Time Comedy)
Jack Baker (Aurora, Ill. – The Comedy Shrine)
Ryan Mason (Milwaukee – The Caste of Killers Comedy Collective)
Kaitlin McCarthy (Milwaukee – The Caste of Killers Comedy Collective)

From Facebook:

We call it ‘Truths In Comedy,’ because we want to connect with you and the best way to do it is with honesty, all while providing with fantastic entertainment! And as always we are at Var Gallery and Studio in Walker’s Point!

Tavaris Smith will emcee the comedic truth-telling, which costs $10 at the door, which opens at 7:30.

Var Gallery & Studios is at 643 S. 2nd St.
