Milwaukee’s best comedy minds will soon gather and create an original sketch comedy show in less than one day. For the 18th time in fact, Sketch 22 – the comedy sketch show written, rehearsed and performed all in just 22 hours – hits the stage again this Saturday, Jan 7 at 7pm at ComedySportz (420 South 1st St., Milwaukee).
The show actually begins the night before when 10 groups of writers will each receive topics and suggestions to write a sketch. Saturday at noon some of the best comedic minds the city has to offer will all converge and start creating together: 10 directors and 40 actors will have their names pulled at random to put a cast and one of the 10 scripts together and begin rehearsing the show. A fury of activity will begin as Lines are quickly memorized (well, most of the time), Costumes are pulled from the back of closets’ and trunks of cars, and Directors will try to glue it all together in order to put an entire comedy show up in a single day. This is what Sketch 22 is all about and you can watch the hilarious result of all this fun and effort Saturday at 7pm at ComedySportz in the Farina Arena!
Sketch 22 is presented twice a year by Schmitz ‘n Giggles and hosted by the one and only Patrick Schmitz! Don’t miss one of the most anticipated comedy events around that is sure to please.
All proceeds from this show will go towards the Ex Fabula Equal Access Project which helps welcomes more voices of individuals with disabilities to the stage. The show is at 7pm on Saturday, Jan 7th at Comedy Sportz (420 S 1st St). Tickets are $10 at the door only, so arrive early and grab a drink at the bar. This show does sell out. Recommended for ages 13 and up.
