About WUWM Interviews
Comedy interviews on WUWM are produced by Rachel Owens, Morning Edition Host and Announcer for WUWM, and Matt Kemple, Producer and Founder for Milwaukee Comedy. Interviews focus on the comedy industry – locally and nationally – and offer an inside look into the comedy industry.
Rachel Owens
Rachel joined WUWM as an announcer in January of 2014. As WUWM’s announcer, Rachel can be heard throughout the week. She especially loves hosting the midday hours, serving as a close companion to WUWM’s listeners. Rachel helps create the tone, rhythm and character of Milwaukee Public Radio. In May of 2014, Rachel became producer and co-host of WUWM@Nite. Rachel became WUWM’s local Morning Edition host in March of 2015.
Prior to coming to WUWM, she worked for nearly six years at Wisconsin Public Radio and Television in a number of roles, including announcer/board operator, voice talent, producer, on-air producer, radio operations center technician and audience services representative.
Matt Kemple
Matt is the Founder and Producer of Milwaukee Comedy, LLC. and the annual Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Wisconsin’s largest multi-day comedy event. No stranger to hard work and dedication to the arts in Milwaukee, Matt is also Founder and Manager of The Underground Collaborative, a unique comedy, theatre and arts venue Downtown and one of the Co-Founders of the Milwaukee Fringe Festival, a new performing and visual arts festival.
Matt is a full-time live-events producer, public speaker and big-picture thinker with a background in comedy, marketing, and the arts. His personality and skill set offer a unique perspective in everything from event production and team building to consulting services for businesses and arts organizations.
