Return to the Cage

Round 2 in the Improv Comedy Cage Match is slated for 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. Admission: $5.

In this corner, the challenger: Homegrown Electric Circus.

And in this other corner, Winner of Round 1: The Midnight Show.

The defending team’s going to be hard to beat if its members are as clever and focused as they were against Meanwhile Improv Troupe in the first match. A couple other Homegrown notes:

  • Group member Jazmin Marie Vollmar will be the guest host of Game Show Night, at 9:30 p.m., Friday, April 29, at ComedySportz.
  • The group will be performing at 10 p.m., Thursday, May 19, at the Alchemist Theatre, 2569 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. Admission: $5.
  • As well as at 9 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at Frank’s Power Plant, 2800 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., $5.

Vollmar says the May 19 engagement at the Alchemist will be a fundraiser for the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, whose honchos Matt Kemple and Patrick Schmitz will participate in the second half of the show. And, she says, if the performance raises $500, festival frontman Jimbo Jameson will ceremoniously shave the heads of Homegrown teammates Josh Barto and Scott Heaton.
