Love of Laughter, a Toastmasters club based in Waukesha, is hosting a standup comedy contest Thursday evening, May 5, at the Milwaukee Yacht Club, 1700 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.
The contest is an audition for talent to play at the comedy stage at the Wisconsin State Fair.
Yacht club contestants will be placed in one of four pools and do a routine lasting 3 to 5 minutes. The audience decides the winner of each pool. Then those four winners perform again to let the audience choose who receives trophies for 1st and 2nd place. Each of the four gets a reserved spot at the state fair stage.
The yacht club doors open at 5:30 p.m. The contest starts at 7. It’s open to the public – $5 to watch; free if you’re competing.
