“Comics” and “funnies” are interchangeable references to the full-color cartoon section in the Sunday newspaper. They’re also overlapping descriptions of the next monthly show by the Worst Case Scenario improv group: “Superhero: An Origin Story.”
Performers – including players from ComedySportz, cast from “Natalie Ryan and the Brain Thieves,” and members of the Meanwhile Improv Troupe – will pay homage to comic books in an hour-long story based on audience suggestions. “They’ll make up brand new heroes, villains, damsels in distress,” the news release tells us. “You could see mad scientists, mutants, super-strength, epic battles and maybe even a little bit of a love story. The options are endless!”
“Superhero” starts at 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 27, at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. The bar and restaurant will be open, but you must be 18 or older to attend. Admission: $5 – cash only.
