What street brawls are to prize fighting, the Rec League is to ComedySportz. It’s a rawer, more developmental version of the short-form improvisational comedy that professional ComedySportz teams have been exhibiting for 27 years.
I told you before about the free ComedySportz rec sessions open to the public most Sunday afternoons. Next Thursday, is something special.
Rec league participants – many of them already well-seasoned practitioners of improv – have come up with their own ComedySportz type games. They’ll be displaying them in a free showcase starting at 7 p.m. May 12, at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. Get there early because the bar and grill will be open. I mentioned it’s free, right? OK then.
