Put your money where your laughs are

So this pledge drive has been running for a couple of months to raise money for the Milwaukee Comedy Festival.

The deadline for pledges is June 1. That’s next week.
And the drive is still short of its goal of $2,500.

The way it works: Unless the goal is met, nobody’s pledge is collected. It’s an all-for-one, one-for-all leap of faith. And it still needs some support. And time is running out.

We’ve written about the Comedy Fest before. We’ve even featured testimonials.
The fest is in its sixth year and will be twice as big as in years past. The pledges are a small portion of the budget, but they help make sure it’s a success – and sustainable.

Three reasons the festival needs donations, according to Founder and Producer Matt Kemple:
1. “We want to start paying performers for being a part of the fun and increase stipends to the festival staff.”
2. “Having the same budget as last year isn’t enough to fill the seats, and providing food and beverage to performers is expensive.”
3. “The Milwaukee Comedy Festival is changing into a non-profit organization, and there are lots of fees associated with filing the legal paperwork.”

Think of it as an electronic passing of the hat. You can toss in as little as $1. You can get your name in the program for as little as $15. Premiums (That means you get cool stuff!) are available with contributions of $30 or more.
