What they’re saying

The MilwaukeeComedy community is supportive. Local comedians frequently turn out and even pitch in at each other’s events. As Jenna Kashou reports at InsideMilwaukee.com, Milwaukee comedy groups have performed fund raisers for this weekend’s Milwaukee Comedy Festival. They also have kind things to say, including:

“The comedy festival has been a true blessing for Milwaukee and the comedy scene as a whole. The quantity and variety of shows have increased since the festival’s creation, which is always great. But more importantly, more people of varying backgrounds have been exposed to comedy. Milwaukee has become a hub of creative comedy because of the Milwaukee Comedy Festival.”
Lee Rowley, Meanwhile Improv Troupe

“We are extremely proud to be invited to the Milwaukee Comedy Festival! Bye Bye Liver, Milwaukee has been working to represent the best in local comedy over the past year and a half. We are honored to be joining the ranks of such vital and talented performers!”
Nate Press, Bye Bye Liver: The Milwaukee Drinking Play

“This is a great event with great performers and we’re proud to be performing among some of the most talented comedy acts Milwaukee has to offer,” says Scott Heaton, of Homegrown Electric Circus. “There’s so much comedy going on here. It seems like every week there’s something to check out. Everyone knows and likes each other, but it gets difficult to see everything. The Milwaukee Comedy Festival is a great way for everyone to get together for four days and see what everyone has been up to. And then drink. LOTS!”

“The Festival fits into the Milwaukee scene in that I’ve noticed a more cohesive unity in the last year especially. A year and a half ago, I knew ComedySportz comedians and that’s pretty much it. But now, through reaching out and performers playing together and supporting each other’s shows, I know so many more performers, with varied talents and strengths! When I see that, I want to get them on stage with us and just play! We’re all learning so much from one another, and it’s exciting to see that unfolding. The fest is a great expression of that. There’s no other opportunity in Milwaukee to get everyone together all at once and make those connections and see the power that comedy has to offer to bring people together.”
