Fans of team-oriented competitive improvisational comedy – and anyone drawn to free entertainment – should know about the upcoming playoffs for the ComedySportz Recreational League.

After months of grueling workshops and hard-fought battles of wit, eight teams of improvisers will compete in a single-elimination tournament this month.
The first round of bouts begins at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. The four matches will run until about 5 p.m. Winners advance. Losers go home.
The second round begins at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, with the victors of the semi-final matches vying for the championship at 4 p.m.
The ComedySportz bar will be open and serving drinks on both Sundays. But drinks are all you would pay for. Parking is free. Admission is free. There’s free viewing of the Packers games on the big-screen TV barside. And it’s family-friendly, so you don’t even have to shell out for a sitter for the kids.
