Fruit + Cake = Comedy

Much maligned, in my humble estimation, are the holiday fruitcakes so often poked fun of in yuletide ditties and skits. I mean, c’mon, what could be better in a sweet bread than alcohol and dried and candied fruit? Which brings us to a production this weekend at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, called “Instant Fruitcakes.”

From the web: “You know the holidays are here when McMann & Tate returns to the stage to shine some blinking lights on all the craziness of the season. A zany holiday tradition like no other, this all-new comedy show examines office parties, baby’s first Christmas, spouse gift giving gone wrong, and first-ever ‘Choose your own adventure’ scene that allows the audience to decide which way the scene goes.”

Shows are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10. Tickets range from $10 to $14, or you can reserve a table for eight for $125 (which is even more expensive – Do the math.). The Cedarburg Cultural Center is at W62 N546 Washington Ave.

The website is a little off-kilter, but you can try to order tickets there or call (262) 375-3676.
