Dramatic Transition

“Meanwhile” is a magical adverb that instantly transports us from one scene to another. It hints that where we’re going isn’t necessarily related to where we’ve just been. Then again, we could well discover a relationship between those scenes as the story unfolds.

This Friday night, Milwaukee’s Meanwhile Improv Troupe faces more than a literary transition. That’s because three of the Meanwhile cast members are featured in another production, also Friday night, 10 blocks away.

You see, Lee Rowley, Vince Figueroa and Kristin Althoff are among the eight friends pitching in at broadminded Buffet, an original show by Milwaukee’s all-female sketch comedy quartet.

The Buffet has its second-last show Friday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m., at Carte Blanche Studios, 1024 S. 5th St.

At 10 p.m., Meanwhile has its regular biweekly show at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St.

From Meanwhile, via Facebook: “Come see a one-act play based off your suggestions and Kristin-improvised monologue! You’ll never see it again! Because, it’s improvised.”

Kristin will perform as a guest along with Meanwhile’s regular cast: Lee, Vince, Tyler Kroll, Beth Lewinski, Mike Kauth and Jason Powell. (Kristin also wrote one of the sketches for broadminded Buffet.

The question is whether Kristin, Lee and Vince make it to Meanwhile in time from broadminded Buffet. One way to find out is to attend both. And please, don’t ask them for autographs in between.
