Here’s a way to combine belated celebrations of both Valentine’s Day and Lincoln’s birthday: It’s called The Improvised Musical, that’s what.
Every month on the third Thursday, the cast and band of T.I.M., as they call themselves, create an on-the-spot musical with original stories and songs and dances – all based on a suggestion from the audience.
Live theatrical musicals are quite the romantic evening, in case you didn’t know. Which makes T.I.M. suitable for Valentine’s Day. It starts at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at 420 S. 1st St.
And it costs $5. So now look whose likeness is featured on the face of the V buck. It’s Honest Abe, that’s who.
Another option the same night is also now a regular monthly treat: Comedy Show at the Sugar Maple, 440 E. Lincoln Ave.
You see that? Lincoln Avenue!
This month features the likes of Tony Tudor, Ryan Mason, Jason Hillman, Tim Higgins and Ryan Holman. Dave Simon is the host. Admission to the Sugar Maple show also is $5 cash.
Ticket sales begin at 8:30 p.m., and the show starts at 9:10. But Ryan Holman tells us the last three shows have sold out, so don’t wait until the last minute.
