Thanks largely to the diligence of Milwaukee’s own Caste of Killers Comedy Collective, Milwaukee comedygoers and comedy practitioners can go to an open mic nearly every night of the week.
That’s where experienced comics polish their sets and try out new material. It’s also the proving ground for up-and-coming (or not) wannabes.
One of the latest regular open mics happens at 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, at the Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave. It’s called Open Mic Under the Stairs. And it’s free. More than that, it’s a pride of the Caste of Killers, which means they’re working their magic to make sure it’s a high-quality show as well as a decent showcase and laugh lab for local comics.
Caste of Killers co-sponsored the Battle Royale series of standup contests this spring, which resuled in Lara Beitz and Ryan Mason landing feature slots in the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Aug. 3-11, at 255 S.
