Upright improv

One mark of a nationally relevant comedy community is the ability to draw nationally relevant comedy acts. So, just so you know, tickets are on sale now for the Sept. 21-22 appearance of the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company.

The long-form improv troupe has produced the likes of co-founder Amy Poehler, Ed Helms, Horatio Sanz, Rob Riggle and Rob Corddry. The UCB cast includes what could be the next wave of comedy stars, top improvisers from New York and Los Angeles.

The Brigade’s publicists even have this endorsement from Conan O’Brien: “I think UCB is the premier supplier of comedy actors with chops…They are doing the type of manic, original, inventive stuff I’m always interested in.” And you know that Conan really said that because of the ellipsis.

The UCB performs four times in Milwaukee at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 22 in the Todd Wehr Theater of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $30 at www.MarcusCenter.org and 414-273-7206.
