Comic relief

Here’s more from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Jim Stingl about the story behind the benefit this week for injured Milwaukee police officer Joshua Albert (right), who was struck head-on last month by a drunken driver.

Albert’s police partner asked her relative, Dobie Maxwell, to organize a comedy show and silent auction to support Albert’s rehabilitation. Maxwell, a Milwaukee native and nationally touring comic, was injured by a drunken driver in 1993.

The event starts at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Shank Hall, 1434 N. Farwell Ave. A $20 donation is suggested.
