Comedy salutes

We know there’s comedy in military service.

Consider the fact that the TV series “M*A*S*H” lasted more years than the Korean War in which it was set. The same for “Hogan’s Heroes.” “Gomer Pyle: USMC” remained a popular sitcom even during the less-than-popular escalation in Vietnam. And then it kept marching on in reruns.

Well, there’s a place for military service in comedy, too.

In honor of Veterans Day, ComedySportz Milwaukee is allowing current and former service members free admission to any regularly scheduled show this weekend. That includes:

  • 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9
  • 3 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10

ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St., has been the commander of family-friendly comedy improv since it began in Milwaukee in 1984.

Free tickets are limited to two per veteran or active service member.Shows sell out, so call to reserve seats at (414) 272-8888.

The amateur players in the ComedySportz Recreational League begin their 16th seasonal playoffs. Free matches begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. 

The bar and grill will be open during the shows, which are scheduled for 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
