Anyone who has ever dreaded a deadline or feared performing before an audience with scant preparation should appreciate what’s happening the next three weekends in the Milwaukee area.
On Saturday, Jan. 5, the Bunny Gumbo Theatre Company is putting on a show featuring eight plays written, directed and acted by 50 area high school students within a 24-hour period. The Combat Boot Camp performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Waukesha Civic Theatre, 264 W. Main St., Waukesha. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults. Click here for more information.
Then, on Saturday, Jan. 12, Patrick Schmitz presents Sketch 22. The night before, 10 groups of writers get randomly assigned topics for 10 comedy sketches. Ten directors randomly select which sketch and which actors they’ll direct. Just 22 hours after the writers get their topics, the sketches are performed in a one-time show.
