Open Comedy

If you’re looking for diversions from midwinter midweek slumps, consider these openings:
Veteran Milwaukee improviser Lee Rowley is facilitating an open improv at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Sessions started last week. Anyone who’s game is invited to bring $3 to the Arcade Theatre, in the Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., and join in. It’s two hours of creating dramatic scenes driven by quick wits and the power of yes-and. Audiences are welcome, but anyone can participate and be eligible to win discounts to various upcoming comedy shows.
At 8 p.m. on the first three Wednesdays of each month, Caste of Killers Comedy Collective sponsors Milwaukee’s premier open mic for standup comedy. It’s called Open Mic Under the Stairs. It’s at the Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave. Admission is free, but it’s only polite to buy a drink and tip your server. If you’d like to perform a routine of five- to seven minutes, be there at 7:30 p.m. to sign up.
