Planned Improvisations

A whole lot of improv gets rolling this week in the Milwaukee comedy community.

  • 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, a six-week long-form improv workshop begins at the Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Lower Level. Classes are two hours every Monday and cost $75. Please click here for more information and to sign up.
  • 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, an open improv gets underway, also at the Underground Collaborative, downstairs from TJ Maxx at the Shops of Grand Avenue. Each weekly session offers comedic improvisers a chance to flex and stretch their wit. Admission is a donation of $3 per session, with a chance to win discounts and even free tickets to other Milwaukee Comedy events.
  • 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Hamburger Mary’s, 2130 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., is the debut of “Two and a Half Gay Men” It’s a new weekly improv show featuring three members of the cast of The Improvised Musical (T.I.M.), Robby McGhee, Nevin Langhus, and Jacob Bach.
  • 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10, at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St., begins the 17th season of the ComedySportz Recreational League. Teams of experienced amateur improvisers perform in free public shows each Sunday afternoon beginning Feb. 24. Teams of three- to five players pay entry fees of $350, which include workshops on Feb. 10 and Feb. 17 as well as season-long backstage coaching from ComedySportz trainers.
