You’ve got a variety of standup comedy to choose from this weekend.
First, there’s the Milwaukee Standup Comedy Showcase, which pretty much speaks for itself. It’s presented by the Caste of Killers Comedy Collective and features some of the best talent gathered from months of open mics and other venues. Scheduled performers include:
- Eric Thorson, the emcee
- Kristen Toomey
- Tyler Menz
- Ryan Holman
- Choa Feng
- Sarah Connor
- Damon Millard
The showcase is at 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 17, at the Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave. Admission is $10 at the door or $5 in advance by clicking here.
Also Friday, at 9:30 p.m., is the Cactus Club Comedy & Music Show. That’s at 2496 S. Wentworth Ave.,and includes live music fromFiltharmonic (which was the house band for the 2012Milwaukee Comedy Festival) as well as Mortgage Freeman (recently featured in theMilwaukee Journal Sentinel ; guitarist/vocalist also is a member of the Homegrown Electric Circus improv group – see below).

Tickets are $7.
If you’re paying attention, you’ll see that Ryan Holman and Damon Millard expect to play both the showcase and the Cactus Club.
You can also see Sammy Arechar and Jake Kornely twice this weekend if you go to the Cactus Club and the Comedy Show Comedy Show at 9 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at Landmark Lanes, 2020 N. Farwell Ave. Also appearing will be:

The price of admission there is $5. Bowling not included.
