We got a note from our old friend, Milwaukee-reared nationally touring comedian Dobie Maxwell.
“It’s not often I ask for favors, but right now I can really use your help,” Dobie writes.
He is putting together a benefit comedy show. It’s at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, at Shank Hall, 1434 N. Farwell Ave. He writes more:
“It’s to benefit a dog named Sadie who was shot in the head and left for dead. She is an amazing story, and I am doing the show to help raise money for her care and awareness for her story.”
Dobie met Sadie (pictured above) and her adopted owner Joal Derse Dauer while hosting a radio show. He writes more:
“I’m not particularly a ‘pet person’, but I don’t see how anybody with a heart and soul couldn’t be moved by this story. Check out Sadie’s website at www.savingsadie.com. It truly is a miraculous story, and any help you can give would be good karma all around.”
Dobie is calling the show Comedians for Critters.
Appearing with Dobie are:
- Chicago comedian and pet rescue activist Elly Greenspahn
- Comedy magician Lynn Miner
- “Surprise guest performers as they become available”
- And emcee Drew Olson, of 540 ESPN
Dobie’s Comedians for Critters, 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, Shank Hall
Comedians for Critters is considered appropriate for ages 18 and up. There will be a cash bar. Admission is a suggested $10 donation.
If you’re a Packers fan, you know there’s no game Sunday. If you’re not a fan, you wouldn’t need to know that. Anyway, Drew wouldn’t be there if the Packers were playing.
