Retro Comedy, localized TV sitcom

So the deal is that no one who knows is supposed to talk about which popular TV sitcom from the ‘70s, ‘80s or ‘90s will have an episode staged live at Milwaukee’s Arcade Theatre for Retro Comedy Night.

The idea is to surprise comedy-goers with one of their favorite shows from back when and to have funny Milwaukee talent perform the episode.

Although we can’t tell you which show you’ll see at 9 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 10, we can tell you who’s in the cast. They are:

  • Robby McGhee
  • Tess Rutkowski
  • Erik Koconis
  • Lindsey Gagliano
  • Joel Dresang
  • Becca Segal and
  • Rich Laguna

We can also let you know that Amanda Sinko is directing the show, and we heard her and her crew cracking each other up during rehearsals. That’s a strong endorsement.

And we don’t think we’re giving it away if we point out that this particular TV sitcom episode has a couple of Wisconsin connections. One is that the director of the episode, as it was broadcast, is from Milwaukee. The other connection will be obvious when you hear it.

Unlike your favorite nostalgic TV shows, Retro Comedy Night has no rewind. You can’t watch it again and again. It’s one and done.

Also, the indefatigable Ryan Lowe, will be performing his audacious style of standup comedy as part of the show. Among Ryan’s recent projects are starring in the movie One Week Vacation, featured this week at the Milwaukee Film Festival, and creating a sketch comedy show, Dynamo Kickstand, with Greg Bach and Stacy Pawlowski.

Retro Comedy, 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, Arcade Theatre

That’s 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level (downstairs from T.J. Maxx at the Grand Avenue Mall).

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
