So who’s going to remember 32 years from now that Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan was a vice presidential candidate? Who remembers that 32 ago former Wisconsin Gov. Pat Lucey was a vice presidential candidate?
And 36 years before that, another Wisconsin guy flirted with the Republican candidacy for president. His name was Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
MacArthur used to live in Milwaukee, in the Plankinton Hotel, which is now the site of The Shops of Grand Avenue. It’s in the bowels of that former hotel where we’re directing your attention. There, history will be made as news is lampooned by the clever cast of well-informed improvisers known as Talking Points.
From Facebook: “The Presidential Election is less than a month away. Politics, Halloween, and Pumpkin Spice lattes are back! If it’s in the news, we’re talking about it. Talking Points is Milwaukee’s live improvised news program. Love the news, or hate, you’re going to like this.”
You can be a witness to history. For $5 cash. It begins at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12 in The Arcade Theatre, part of the Underground Collaborative, in the lower level of 161 W. Wisconsin Ave. Oh, and BYOB.
