Milwaukee-based Smithereen Productions is putting on “The Hardy Boys and the Case of the Blankedy Blank (An Improvised Mystery)” at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at 420 S. 1stSt.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, the audience fills in the Blankedy Blank. Because it’s improv, that’s why.
From the press release: “You know you read the books when you were a kid. The Hardy Boys and their friend, Nancy Drew, have been solving mysteries and catching crooks for almost a full century. Pretty much everyone read the books as kids, and even some of you swooned over Shaun Cassidy when he played a Hardy boy! Now—you can relive your childhood by enjoying a TOTALLY IMPROVISED Hardy Boys mystery live on stage.”
The lineup includes some of the usual suspects:
- Andrew Pauly
- Cameron Smith
- Gretchen Mahkorn
- Jacob Bach
- Joe Vella
- Ryan Spiering
- Amanda Stellberg
- Accompanied by Colleen Schmitt
Admission is just $5 cash at the door, and you can call (414) 272-8888 for reservations. It’s recommended for audiences 18 and older, which means Frank, Joe and Nancy should stay home.
(* OK, so spellcheck says “mensational” isn’t a word. I say it should be. It’s something sensational that occurs monthly.)
