Free to Laugh

Back in May, comedy maven Erik Koconis had his Be Spectacled class of standup comedy students perform their graduation show at the Del Monte Bar in Wauwatosa. The manager liked it so much, he invited Erik to arrange more.

Now Comedy Night in the Del has become an addition to the many open mic opportunities burgeoning in the Milwaukee area. If you’re a fan and if you’re a comic (seasoned or wannabe), here’s another place to stick a pin on your map.

Comedy Night in the Del starts at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7615 W. State St. As far as I know, it’s free. But you should have some cash in your pocket anyway for a drink or a bite. And don’t forget to tip your server. Because they need cash in their pockets too, that’s why.

While you’re at it, put 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26 on whatever serves as your calendar.

That’s when the end-of-the-month Comedy Café Open Mic will be. This one I know is free. It’s at 615 E Brady St., and is supported by the hardworking folks at the Caste of Killers Comedy Collective.

From Facebook:
Here’s how it works: 8 comics go head to head to prove they’ve got the right stuff. The Audience Chooses their favorite and that person is crowned the night’s top comic, wins some cash, and is invited back to open up on a regular weekend show. We will also showcase some very funny Comedy Cafe favorites. It’s a great night of comedy so don’t miss out.”
