At the risk of being a late-comer, you really ought to see T.I.M. (The Improvised Musical), which has its latest monthly show at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the ComedySportz arena, 420 S. First St.
More than a year strong, T.I.M. has hit a stride in devising 60-minute musical theater from audience suggestions. The stories can be poignant and be funny, and you can find yourself humming some of the improvised tunes on your way home. No two shows are alike, and attendance keeps growing.
Shepard Express critic Russ Bickerstaff called T.I.M.’s appearance in the recent Milwaukee Comedy Festival: “… a surprisingly tight mini-Broadway-style musical, it lands somewhere in a range between extreme cleverness and brilliance.”
From T.I.M.’s Facebook: “To make the night a real event, T.I.M. will also be offering our Signature cocktail, ‘the Big Apple Bottom’ martini, at the bar, as well as an awesome FREE photo booth courtesy of Anna Spangler Photography. (All photos from the event are added to the T.I.M. Facebook page so you can tag yourself and your friends!)”
It’s just $5 cash at the door, but you can reserve tickets at (414) 272-8888. The shows’ material is appropriate for audiences 17 and older.
And get this: For $3 extra, you can see the debut of The Comedy Stache, featuring some of Milwaukee’s top standup comics, right after T.I.M.
