It’s already the last full week of July. That means the last Wednesday of the month is nigh, which tells us it’s time for the free Comedy Café Open Mic.
A production of the Caste of Killers Comedy Collective, this open mic features both established and up-and-coming standup comics in a monthly competition. Comedy fans need only bring a valid ID showing that they’re 21 or older. Wannabe performers can check ahead with Damon Millard to see if there are any openings.
From Facebook: “8 spots are available for the competition. These comedians perform 5 minute sets and then after all 8 have performed the audience fills out a ballot and picks their favorite. The comedian with the most votes will win some cash and a chance to perform on a regular weekend show to open up for a nationally touring headliner.”
The show starts at 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, at 615 E. Brady St. We needn’t remind you it’s free.
Also, speaking of Damon, you can catch him at the seventh annual Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Aug. 3-11, at the Next Act Theatre space, 255 S. Water St. Damon is scheduled for the 7:30 p.m. show, Sunday, Aug. 5.
Damon Millard? I hear he likes to throw Skittles at homeless people.
