Once the temperature crests 80, the Milwaukee minds start racing to August, which for some of us means it’s time for the annual Milwaukee Comedy Festival. But don’t rush things. Because it’s not even Mother’s Day yet, that’s why.
It’s not too early to start thinking about the Comedy Fest, though. In fact, on Friday, May 4, some supremely talented comic will be landing a featured slot in the 7th annual festival by virtue of the finale of a “battle royale” that began last month. It’s hosted by the Caste of Killers Comedy Collective and festival founder Matt Kemple (Finale, battle, royale, Kemple – all those “le” endings make me giggle.).
The 15 finalists face off beginning at 8 p.m. at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. Admission is $5. Judging from what I saw at the last round of preliminary matches, that’ll be $5 well spent.
The Milwaukee Comedy Festival runs Aug. 3-11 at Next Act Theatre’s new venue. Save the date. Tell your friends.
