broadminded Surprise!

I just ordered my tickets to the next broadminded sketch comedy show. I made sure I got mine before I posted anything about the show here, just in case the show sells out fast.

That must qualify for some sort of insider trading violation, but at least I’m being up front about it.

I’ve heard talk lately of startup sketch comedy troupes in Milwaukee, but broadminded is the genuine article.

The all-female group debuted in the first Milwaukee Comedy Festival in 2006 and has performed a few shows a year, even appearing in the Austin Sketch Festival.

Milwaukee Comedy is producing the broads’ next show, centered on the theme “Surprise!”

Performances are at 7:30 p.m., on Friday April 5 and 12 and Saturday April 6 and 13. The shows will be at the Tenth Street Theater, 628 N. 10th St. Tickets are $10 at www.broadmindedcomedy.com.

From the news release: “Broadminded’s past shows have included thematic explorations of history, science, and zombies.  Surprise! is guaranteed to potentially maybe possibly contain political satire, dream sequences, catchy song parodies, and faux facial hair. Or not.

The broadminded crew includes Stacy Babl, Anne Graff LaDisa, Melissa Kingston and Megan McGee, who reveal at the bottom of their press release:  “The broads are particularly fond of surprises such as free food in the break room, unused gift cards, cookie bouquets, December 22, 2012, and bipartisanship.

The broads consider the content of “Surprise!” appropriate for everyone 15 and older.
