Class Act

School’s out for summer, but there’s something to be said for studying ahead and lifelong learning, and besides, the latest class offered by Turf Theater looks fun.

Rules of Improv” will be taught by Dave Nelsen, a longtime veteran of ComedySportz who grew up in the short-form improv theater’s high school league then worked his way up to roles as a regular ComedySportz player, referee and instructor.

From the web: “In this two-hour class, we’ll give you 21 rules of improv – and then tell you to break them. You’ll perform short (one minute or less) scenes, intentionally disobeying the rules of improv, showing everyone just how important they are. When you’re not in the scene, you’ll watch other scenes and guess which rules your classmates are breaking.”

The class is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at 420 S. 1st St. Fee: $10.
