Comic Relief

Thanks to some heroic last-second generosity, the Milwaukee Comedy Festival met its fundraising goal of $2,500 by June 1 to help cover costs of expanding its sixth annual event, scheduled for Aug. 4-7.

Some 41 donors pledged $2,645 to the festival, which also is in the process of seeking non-profit status so it can continue growing and sustaining promotion of the Milwaukee comedy community.

More than half the money came in the final week of the drive, which began in April. Even minutes before the deadline Wednesday night, fundraisers were still relying on 11th hour donations to reach their goal. Nothing like adding some suspense to comedy!

“All the donors deserve a huge Thank You for their generosity.”stated Milwaukee Comedy Festival founder Matt Kemple. “These funds will go directly to support the thriving local comedy scene that continues to grow in Milwaukee.”

Fundraising efforts were spearheaded by festival Development Manager, Anne Cauley.
