About the Workshops:
Environment in Scenes This workshop concentrates on the ensemble’s ability to create an environment that can be clearly seen in common, and focusing on that environment as the catalyst for action in the scene.
Adaptability in Scenes This workshop will focus on being able to quickly adapt with a wide variety of people and develop a group mind
Immediate Improv for Intermediate Improvisers “Do you know those scenes when the characters just stand there talking about what they’re going to do instead of actually doing anything? How about those scenes where one actor’s declarative line leaves the other actor stumped and the audience cringing? And don’t forget the scenes when no one actually says what they’re feeling? Seen enough of those scenes? …Done enough of those scenes? Let’s try something new in this workshop aimed at intermediate improvisers looking to make the leap to something great.”
Point of View-Point of the Scene So many improvisers rely on characters as the driving force in their scene work. The problem is they have a few characters they play and know work well, so they start forcing them into scenes and their scene work gets boring or stalled over time. In this workshop John and Adam will help you explore point of view which is not limited to character but encompasses emotions, intellect, environment, your want, and relationship. They will help you understand the key to point of view as a filter through which the scene plays and then how to stick with that point of view as you heighten the stakes of the scene.
Honest Characters “Accents are not characters. Stand-And-Talk is not a character. Angry is not a character. Break away from your regular stock of characters by exploring new dialogue techniques, combining physical and vocal elements, and leaping headfirst into a calvacade of emotions. This is a workshop for those who get excited when their character does or says something that surprises them as an actor.”
