Merry and Bright (improvised)

Irving  Berlin wished that all of our Christmases be white, but that was before we knew much about climate change. On Dec. 2, Milwaukee broke a record of 280 consecutive days without measurable snow.

Just because it isn’t snowy doesn’t mean it’s not December.

In the same way, just because you haven’t seen The Improvised Musical doesn’t mean it’s not a Milwaukee blockbuster. After a year and a half, this spontaneous, never-the-same Broadway-style musical continues to grow audiences. Shepherd Express readers voted T.I.M. one of Milwaukee’s best theater companies.

The story, songs and dances are improvised base on audience suggestions. There’s a live band improvising the music, a live technical director improvising special effects – even a live crew improvising food and bar service. The experience regularly defies expectations on the third Thursday of each month at the ComedySportz arena, 420 S. 1st St.

The next show is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20. And the admission is just $5.

And they’re calling this one the “December Holiday Show!” So if the green lawns aren’t getting you in the seasonal spirit, here’s a $5 remedy.
