You should be up by 2 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon anyway, right? You’ve got to eat, right? So why not support local comedy in the process?
Because Saturday, May 16, you can catch the first stop in the nationally touring “Late Late Breakfast,” that’s why.
Late Late Breakfast – Saturday May 16, Bremen Café
From the Facebook:
The Late Late Breakfast, America’s Longest-Running Breakfast-Themed Comedy-Style Show Product™ is embarking on its 2015 Breakfast to Go Tour! Our VERY FIRST stop is at the Bremen Cafe, in good ol’ Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
The show has been a near-monthly feature at The Hideout in Chicago. It performed at festivals in Chicago, Orlando and recently Memphis.
Late Late Breakfast turbocharges an open mic for local standups into sort of an improvisational game show.
Every show is a wildly different experience and features a dizzying array of comedians telling jokes while facing randomized themed challenges that could be anything from having an impromptu puppet show or pie fight or Easter Pageant, to giving a guided tour in a trolley car or smashing fruit like Gallagher or pitching in a baseball game involving the entire audience.
Expect anything and everything out of the ordinary, all of it held together by solid, hilarious standup comedy. Plus, everybody gets free pancakes!
The Chicago Reader said of Late Late Breakfast, “The chaos can’t help but be entertaining.” The Chicago Tribune said, “The Late Late Breakfast is a find. It’s the rare open mic that general audiences and comedians alike can all rally around. It’s a raucous afternoon of high-energy mischief (with pancakes!) presented with an insiders wink by creators Danny Maupin and Tyler Jackson.”
But you’re an adult. Make your own opinion.
And if you’re a standup, show up, sign up, see what happens.
Bremen Café is at 901 E. Clarke St.
