Everybody obsesses about the future, which is why it’s nice to take a break occasionally and relive the past.
That’s the notion of Retro Comedy Night. It lets you reminisce on the simple joys of your childhood through the TV sitcoms of yesteryear. And it gives you a break from all your futuristic viewing devices by bringing those nostalgic shows to you via live theater.
Retro Comedy Night – 8 p.m., Sat. May 23
For instance, the next Retro Comedy Night features Milwaukee comedians including
- Kristin Althoff
- Grace DeWolff
- Melissa Kingston
- Robby McGhee and
- Lindsey Walcott
So, those actors will be portraying characters from one of your favorite old-time TV serials. They’ll perform a live rerun of an actual episode. Of course, your prime question is one we can’t answer in advance: What show will it be? Because we don’t know yet. That’s why. It’s supposed to be a surprise.
But with that cast, directed by the multi-talented Beth Lewinski, you can’t lose. From Beth’s Facebook page:
Hey y’all I’m directing this month’s edition and I have to say it was one of my FAVORITE shows and I’ll bet it was yours too! So, be there, ok?
It all happens at Milwaukee’s Arcade Theatre, in the Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level (the home of Milwaukee Comedy).
Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.
