There is an exciting new improv show that plans to take you on a comic voyage; it’s Voyager: A Comedy Show and it’s happening this Thursday at ComedySportz Milwaukee! The best of Milwaukee’s stand-up and improv scenes collide at the debut of Voyager with some of the cities best stand-up comics will take the stage and provide a base for improvisers to work from.
The show takes the popular improv format the Armando, which if you are not familiar with, the Improv Encyclopedia defines as:
A long form, named after its creator, Chicago Improv teacher and player Armando Diaz. This improv format starts with a storytelling-style monologue, based on an audience suggestion. After the monologue, players play improvized scenes inspired by the monologue, and the monologue may even continue, later on in the performance.
It’s exciting to see a Milwaukee version of the Armando format come to the stage on a regular basis.
This will be the second Voyager show, and this month’s cast includes stand-ups Christopher Schmidt and Greg Bach along with improvisers Tim Higgins, Mike Kauth, Amanda Stellberg, Marisa Lange, Alan Guszkowski, Matt Garnaas, and Tyler Menz.
