From our friend, the masterful Jason Powell, comes a new holiday theatrical experience that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
For Purely Elfish Reasons – thru Dec. 20, Alchemist Theatre
From the website:
Santa’s got a problem: A lot of his best elves have moved on to greener pastures, and the workshop is getting dangerously low on manpower. So he sends three of his best elves — Jules, Lonnie and Dolly — out to do some recruiting.
Created as a tribute to the classic comedy of the Marx Brothers, this all-ages holiday show is full of punchlines that will make you laugh, groan and … groan even louder. Whether you’re a fan of golden-age comedy or have never heard the name “Groucho” in your life, For Purely Elfish Reasons is guaranteed to give you grins and giggles of a distinctly Christmas-y kind.
And if you need reinforcement, consider what Claire Nowak wrote about it on UrbanMilwaukee.com
The cast includes some of our favorites:
- Amanda Stellberg (pictured)
- Amanda Hull
- Liz Whitford
- Andi Jaspersen
- Jason Powell and
- Nick Firer
Remaining performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. Tickets are $19 online and $23 at the door, which happens to be 2569 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.
