Tall Boys long form big laughs

They’re useful not just for getting those cans you can’t reach off the top shelf in the supermarket. Tall Boys can make you laugh. Big time!

You might say they’re the height of comedy, the upper tier of funny. And this weekend, without having to stand on your tippy toes, you’ll get a couple of chances to see the Tall Boys in action.

Tall Boys long form improv – March 6-7

The Tall Boys Improv troupe of Erik Koconis, James Boland, Lee Rowley and Robby McGhee are coached by Jared Stepp. After wowing a sold-out audience at the 2014 Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Tall Boys has been performing more regularly, including monthly shows at ComedySportz, 420 S. 1st St. That’s where they’ll be again this weekend.

Opening for the Tall Boys on Friday, March 6, will be the debut of 401k, a new long form improv group including Jack MartinBrittany Paa, Jeremy Gilsoul, Evan Schroeder, Kim Trudo Bahr, Nicolai Ketelsen and Julie Hall Cole. Tickets are $10 at the door.

On Saturday, March 7, Tall Boys will present a showcase featuring a new class of improvisers, who will be training with Tall Boys throughout the day on Saturday. Tickets to that show are $5. Sorry. The workshop is full.

But if it’s long form improv training you’re looking for, Lee Rowley and Jared Stepp of Tall Boys are teaming up with Amanda Sinko, of Sketch Marks, for a three-week workshop, presented by Milwaukee Comedy.

Building Blocks of Long Form Improv

The workshop runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on consecutive Mondays, March 16, 23 and 30. The total cost is $40, and the class size is limited. (Click here for details and registration.) The Underground Collaborative is at 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., lower level.
